Both natives of South Dakota Monte and Lana have lived in New Mexico for over 50 years. They have been in the buffalo industry for almost three decades. It started with two orphan calves from the Bison ranch where "Dances with Wolves" was filmed, and a life long interest in buffalo became a passion with Monte. Their animals are humanely cared for...and their breeding program has a strong focus on horn growth and massive animals for record-book trophies!

Considered a Mom & Pop outfitter, they strive to make each hunter feel welcome. Their our goal is to make this a "Hunt of a Lifetime" that each hunter will remember.

Our season is mid November to February each year. Approximately 25 bison bulls are harvested annually. You'll be buffalo hunting within our private herd and on our private ranch. Our new location is near an unincorporated area near the continental divide, New Mexico in the western part of New Mexico. At 7000 feet elevation, you will enjoy the crisp air, the blue skies, the dramatic red rock, outcroppings and landscape. This area is rich in history and tradition. LaMont's offers an ultimate outdoor adventure, low fence, fair chase Hunts!

There is no on-site lodging available at this time, but within 25 miles.

Making their debut in the world of SCI at the Reno Convention in 2005, thousands of attendees admired their FULL BODY BISON MOUNT and commented on the fabulous work done by Dennis Otero, Majestic Monarch Taxidermy.

We hope you will consider hunting American Buffalo with LaMont's. Feel free to call (505) 869-4438 and set up your hunt with the rustic amenities and enjoy the beautiful southwest! Lamont Buffalo-Serving Our Community

Dear Monte and Lana,
Thank you for participating in the Bosque Farms Elementary School 2018 Ag Days.

Ms. Cathy Chavez was instrumental in starting the program in 2004, and, when she took another postion in the district, Ms. Tammy Silva continued this treasured tradition. This year, however, after getting the program set up, Ms. Silva had a family emergency and could not participate, but Ms. Joan Culver took over. None of these ladies could do the programs, though, without the support and help of staff, students, local businesses, and community members.

On behalf of the 2018 Ag Days committee, I thank the LaMont Buffalo for generously bringing Cookie for some of BFE's staff and 550+ students to see, touch, feed, smell, get good luck fur from, and learn about. We know you always have a crazy busy schedule--and this year was particularly crazy--so we are really grateful you were able to include us on your calendar.

Ag Days are held every other year, and we hope you will consider sharing with us once again in 2020!

Thank you very much for your part in helping making this year's event such a success.

"Introducing 'RISING THUNDER'

aka Beau

This rare genetically white (not albino) buffalo was a part of the LaMont Family. Beau was featured at the Indian Village at EXPO New Mexico, been invited to the Jay Leno show, and participated in the Topping Off Ceremony at Buffalo Thunder Resort in Pojoaque, NM.

RISING THUNDER has been involved in several Native American ceremonies, and holds a Mayan name as well as a Lakota name.

From a close friend, Randy, Kaiser, Torrington, Wyoming;

On a dark and windy day

When all at once we see

A red-eyed thundering herd

Plowing through the raging skies.

I bet old bowl won't be with them.

He'll be hanging around and gathering somewhere,

Making kids and families happy.

A legend never dies.

My dad and his very special friend Beau, a.k.a. Rising Thunder,

"I can tell you that Beau lived from the moments he got to be the center of attention in front of thousands of people.

He is and always will be remembered as such a sacred and special animal.

Prayers for my parents and my daddy's heart.

He and Beau had a most special bond."

Cherished words from our daughter, Leah Whitaker.
